I’m dreaming of a white christmas

This weekend my mother, sister and me went looking for some christmas spirit in Maastricht.
The annual christmas market had opened the day before we got there, and most of Holland is still focused on Sinterklaas for now. So it was the perfect weekend to go!

Before we went to the market we walked around Maastricht. It’s such a lovely city. This part of Holland looks very different from where I live, it always feels like you’re on holiday. One thing we had to visit, was the famous and absolutely gorgeous bookshop in the city centre. It used to be a church, and they have made it into a beautiful bookshop.

After walking around the terribly busy city centre (the saturday before Sinterklaas in a dutch city, is never a good idea) It was time for some christmas!

The market was a little smaller than we hoped, and most of the stands didn’t sell christmas related items. Which was a bit of a dissapointment… But all the food stands smelled wonderfull, and the few christmas stands they had were fun to look around in.

The christmas market became really worth the visit, when the sun set and you could see all the pretty lights. Then the christmas spirit finally became visible.
Makes me want to get a christmas tree in my home asap!

And on the way home, it started snowing! Wet and only a little, but still the best way to end the day.
